Rollators, canes and little luxuries for women who keep moving

Walk your way.

A rollator is not the end of anything. It is a seat at the market, a steady hand on cobblestones, a basket for flowers and bread. BettyGO finds the models that are light, lovely and made for real days – and explains, without jargon, which one fits you.

About BettyGO

Betty is every woman who said “I'll go anyway.”

BettyGO is made in Düsseldorf by a small team that compares mobility aids the way friends compare handbags: honestly, in detail and with an eye for what you will actually use. We write for the woman who uses the rollator and for the daughter who is helping her choose.

We earn a commission when you buy through our links. It never changes which products we show or what we say about them, and prices do not change for you.

More about us

Questions women ask us

Is a rollator the same as a walker?

Not quite. In the USA “walker” often means a frame you lift with each step. A rollator has three or four wheels, hand brakes and usually a seat, so it rolls with you and lets you sit down. In the UK people say “rollator” or “wheeled walker”; a “zimmer frame” is the frame without wheels. Our guide walker vs. rollator explains which one suits you.

How light can a rollator be?

The lightest rollators with a seat weigh about 4–5 kg; the byACRE Carbon Ultralight is about 4.8 kg (10.6 lbs). Good aluminium models weigh about 5 to 7.5 kg (11–16.5 lbs). Anything under 7 kg is easy to lift into a car; the difference above that is what you feel on stairs and bus steps.

Does health insurance pay for a rollator?

It depends on your country. In the USA Medicare Part B covers a medically necessary walker or rollator at 80 percent after the deductible; in Germany a standard model is prescribed and the insurer pays a flat rate; in the UK the NHS may supply a basic model and private purchases are usually free of VAT. We have a guide for each country.

Which rollator is best for a small woman?

Look at the handle height first: for women under 160 cm the handles should go down to about 70–75 cm and the seat should be 45–50 cm high. The Topro Troja 5G and the Rehasense Athlon SL in size S, the Rollz Flex Small and, in the USA, the NOVA Zoom 18 go that low. Our size guide has a calculator.

Are the products on this page available in my country?

Yes. BettyGO shows the Amazon store of your country – for example amazon.com in the USA, amazon.co.uk in the UK and amazon.de in Germany – and only lists models that are sold there. You can switch country and language at the top of the page.

Where the information comes from

Weights, dimensions and colours come from the manufacturers’ websites and the Amazon listings; we have not tested the products in a laboratory. We compare the data, read owner reviews and say plainly who a model suits and who it does not. We earn a commission on purchases made through our links; it has no influence on which models we show or what we say about them.
